Molly Tilly has created Off-N-ON-AGINS as a way for you to enjoy your pins / brooches instead of hiding them in a drawer! These picture frames are from various sources, all are new and complete, with a best quality velvet covering the glass panes. Some pins are new, some are vintage, but each is charming in it's own way. Those frames with a metal, fancy, openwork back, have an additional velveteen paper treatment. More than 90% are one-of-a-kind compositions, (that particular frame and pin match are not repeated). Molly enjoys the search for each item, creates each pairing herself, and hopes that you enjoy these elegant ensembles and vignettes just as much as she does.
How versatile is your OFF-N-ON-AGIN
Your OFF-N-ON-AGIN is designed to be used as home decor, keeping your brooches out of the box where they can be appreciated. However anytime you wish to wear your brooch, gently lift one edge, slip an ordinary nail file underneath to turn the clasp, ease the brooch to release the pin, (you might use the tip of the file to help lift the pin up and out of the clasp), and slide it out of the velvet. It is important to be as gentle as possible to avoid loosening or damaging the velvet, but it is also possible to remove the back of the frame with a screw driver, gently pull the fabric snug with a pair of tweezers, and replace the backing.
Replacing the pin into the frame requires just a little patience and care. Slide pin-point into the fabric, then use the flat end of the file to hold fabric firmly where you wish the pin to come up. Very carefully, so as not to break the pin, place thumbnail under the pin near the connection, pushing the pin-point up and out of the fabric just in front of the file end. Then using the point of the file gently lift the pin-point to slip into clasp. Lastly, gently lift the entire pin enough to use the file point to turn the clasp to closed position. Viola - you once again have a unique decorative piece for a side table or fireplace! |
